Congratulations to my dad and mom, Ed and Margaret Mason, for 50 years of marriage! That’s quite a wonderful accomplishment!
On my parents’ 29th anniversary (July 19, 1991) Kevin and I were married, so today (July 19, 2012) marks the 50th anniversary of my parents’ marriage!
Here is their “how we met” story and some words of wisdom on how they have kept their marriage strong through all these years!
How We Met
Margaret was just a young 15-year-old girl in my church congregation up in Calgary, Alberta, Canada when I first joined the LDS Church back in 1956 at the age of 19. Several years later Margaret was back in Calgary after a year at BYU, and I was just back from my three-year mission to France and other areas of Europe for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Win two tickets to the Red Carpet movie Premiere of Charly by sharing your love story here!
Marriage and relationships are never easy. There are challenges, especially when the people involved are complete opposites. In the movie Charly the main characters are not only opposites by nature but by upbringing as well. Through the course of their story they learn to overcome their trials together and with the help of God. It’s a great love story about change, perseverance, positive outlook, love, hope, and faith.
Congratulations to Mitt and Ann Romney who celebrated 43 years of marriage today! Nowadays it’s quite a huge accomplishment to do what it takes to make love last! I love to hear of such wonderful love stories…
Kinda fun that I also got to meet Mitt Romney back in 2006 and share my book with him. (Maybe they’ve even read it together! …I’m sure that’s why they are so happy together! ; )
Happy 50th Anniversary! — Morris and Elaine Bastian
It isn’t everyday that a couple reaches that fabulous milestone of 50 years of marriage. My good friends, Morris and Elaine Bastian, have successfully done just that!
In Love and At War
We tell people that we have a unique story. Not because we are very different, but because of the circumstances under which we met and fell in love. It’s what movies and romance novels are made of. Continue reading ““How We Met” Story #20 — Chris & Jackie” »
After being engaged three different times in about a year and a half, I met Eric. As we were getting acquainted, when we first met at a church dance, I found out he was going to Ogden the next day to visit some family. I had left my sewing machine in Salt Lake with a friend and had no way to get it, so I asked if he would drop me off there on his way to Ogden and pick me up on his way home. I met my future wife, Analisa, at a BYU singles ward that I attended after I got off of my mission. My older brother, Vincent, was going to the ward, so I tagged along with him.
Chad and I met in college in May 2002 when I took over his student government position. I called him to learn about what the position entailed. During our meeting he interrupted me to tell me that I had the most beautiful eyes. I thanked him but didn’t really think too much of it. Continue reading ““How We Met” Story #17 — Chad & Naomi” »
Neil and I met while attending BYU-Idaho. (It will always be Ricks College to us!) A friend of his was dating a friend of mine and wanted to set up a double date. Originally they had both invited someone other than Neil and myself on the date. Neil’s friend asked him after the first guy bailed, and then my friend invited me after the other girl bailed.
