Theme Installation - top

  1. Unzip the downloaded file,
  2. Upload myjournal folder (located in MyJournalFiles directory) into Themes folder in your WordPress installation (/wp-content/themes) via FTP,
  3. Go to Appearance >Themes, find My Journal theme and activate it,
  4. Go to My Journal Admin Panel and hit "Save All Changes" button to set default settings,
  5. Setup My Journal theme

Overview - top

Except classic wp posts (blog posts) My Journal theme offers:

1. portfolio posts (displayed in portfolio templates),

! Important - top

Images & Thumbnails:

First at all check if your cache folder (newsroll/js/cache) is writeable - CMOD 777 (most of webhost providers offer writeable server settings by default so no action needed).

To display images and thumbnails correctly upload images via WP interface and then click "Use as featured image". Image inserting to the content is not necessary.

 

 

 

Custom Widgets: - top

Theme comes with 23 custom widgets (marked as - Themnific). Widgets are very easy to setup!

Homepage Setup: - top

Note: In Settings > Reading Settings use default settings:

To set magazine homepage go to Apperance > Widgets and open Homepage widget (on the right side of the screen):

In Homepage widget area you can use these posts / featured widgets:

Themnific - Homepage Posts 1 (displays single category):

Themnific - Homepage Posts 2 (displays two different categories):

Themnific - Homepage Posts 3 (displays two different categories in alteranive style):

Theme Option page - top

My Journal theme comes with extensive options panel with functions divided to these sections:

General Settings:
  1. Upload your header logo image,
  2. Upload favicon,
  3. Insert Analytics Tracking Code,
  4. Set portfolio URL,
  5. Show Categories in Main navigation,
  6. Disable Shortcodes (if you want),
  7. Disable Google Webfonts (if you want),

Layout Options
  1. Select Header element,
  2. Check/Uncheck partial layout sections.

Primary Styling - Body:
  1. Choose body BG color,
  2. choose body BG for main container,
  3. Choose colors for typographic elements: body text/links, hovers, shadows borders etc.),
  4. Select BG overlay

Secondary Styling - Slider and Footer section:
  1. Choose body BG color,
  2. Choose colors for typographic elements: body text/links, hovers, shadows borders etc.).

 

Other Styling:
  1. Choose colors for partial elements.

 

Featured and Sliders:
  1. Choose Featured Slider,
  2. Choose Featured category for selected slider,

About Us:
  1. Upload or set footer logo,
  2. Enter About Us text.

 

Social Networks Settings:
  1. Enter the full URL of social network, your profile or account.

 

Static Ads:
  1. Enter image URLs for partial ads,
  2. Enter link URLs for partial ads,

If you are finished click on "Save changes" button!

 

 

Custom Page Templates: - top

  1. Create a page by going to Page > Add New.
  2. In Attributes Section select custom page template (Redirect, Full Width Page, Portfolio etc.)
  3. Click the Publish button to publish your page.

Portfolio Posts and Templates: - top

Portfolio templates and posts
  1. Create a new page using Portfolio template,
  2. Add some portfolio posts using admin dashboard:

a. Insert/type some content and set featured image,

b. In Video & Slideshow Options panel is possible to set video (opened in lightbox),

c. Also is possible to set another image URLs to create 'portfolio item' slideshow (another imades fields)

d. In Projects options you can set any URL

Shordcode Generator: - top

Theme includes Custom Shortcodes that allow you to easily add buttons, boxes, social buttons, columns and more to your posts, pages and widgets.
